Mission & Vision Statement

Dream PC(USA) was born after 220th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA) by people seeing the Spirit’s movement and finding new energy to minister to and in our changing world, as Jesus called his disciples to do throughout the gospels. We are not trying to manufacture a movement of God. God is already moving. We just want to pay attention.

Dream PC(USA) is a ministry in, with, and for the PC(USA). We affirm PC(USA)’s leadership and believe that all of us–clergy and laity, individuals and communities–are always being called to constantly renew and reform according to the Spirit’s call. We desire to journey together, bridge generation gaps, connect, engage, and make a difference in people’s lives. We also wish to make these connections with our ecumenical siblings in Christ and across religious traditions believing that “we need each other more than we need to agree” (Paula Best, ““Peace,” Hope for a Tree Cut Down“).

Dream PC(USA) focuses on prayer, sharing stories, hoping in community, and empowering people to dream both realistically and unrealistically. We realize some of the things we try will fail but trust that God will redeem. As our Book of Confessions declares: “In a broken and fearful world the Spirit gives us courage to pray without ceasing, to witness among all peoples to Christ as Lord and Savior, to unmask idolatries in Church and culture, to hear the voices of peoples long silenced, and to work with others for justice, freedom, and peace” (Brief Statement of Faith, 10.04).

Dream PC(USA) affirms the full humanity of all our Creator God’s wonderfully made children in all types of diversity including race, gender identity, sexual orientation, sex, class, language, ethnicity, country of origin, and denominational or religious label. We affirm conversation between people with different backgrounds and viewpoints as bearing great fruit and wish to engage each other with mutual respect.

Dream PC(USA) began as an online movement. Like the disciples at Pentecost in Acts 2 all modern disciples are empowered to speak in multiple dialects so the whole world will be able to hear God’s Good News. We are excited and filled with hope as we ask God to lead us.
